From Greece to Australia: Marinair Transports a Church Across the Seas
|
 |
Marinair recently completed the remarkable sea transport of a stone-built Orthodox church from Thessaloniki, Greece, to Sydney, Australia. The 14,760 kg structure was carefully loaded and secured in a 1×20’ Flat Rack container, following detailed inspection, precise lashing, and close coordination among multiple teams.
The shipment included the stone dome and structural sections of the small church, delicate architectural elements that required technical precision and special handling.
The operation included:
- Comprehensive inspection and loading study prior to dispatch.
- Precise lashing and securing of the 14,760 kg structure using heavy-duty chains, tension belts, and wooden reinforcements.
- Customs clearance and supervision of port operations in Thessaloniki.
- Full coordination of the sea route to Sydney, ensuring proper handling at every transshipment point.
This project showcases Marinair’s dedication to technical excellence, reliability, and personal commitment, ensuring that every project, no matter how complex, reaches its destination safely and efficiently.
